EXTEND NBA AGC 2021 EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION-ISAAC OGBAH, EX-NBA OTA BRANCH CHAIR

The Former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ota Branch has called for the extension of the Early Bird Registration by the Technical Committee on Conference Planning ( TCCP).

This is contained in a statement issued and accessed by the SQUIB. The excerpts of the statement are as follows:

A CLARION CALL FOR NBA TCCP TO EXTEND THE EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION PERIOD FOR PORT HARCOURT NBA AGC 2021!!!*

As we hear that Tomorrow, the 13th of September 2021 marks the end of the planned early bird’s registration for the Port Harcourt NBA AGC, *several lawyers, including the undersigned, are calling for an extension of the early bird registration exercise!!!*

It’s no news about the countless challenges that lawyers have had to go through within the past 2 years, which said challenges are yet to abate.

Covid-19 related lockdowns, the nationwide #endsars related protests et etal brought the legal profession on it’s knees for months.

And even when the lockdown were eased the courts were under lock and keys as many judges and lawyers were considered as persons with several underlying health challenges and as such regular judicial activities were paralyzed for months.

And when the courts and lawyers were at the verge of coming to terms on how to re-strategize on how to resume normal court activities nationwide JUSUN strike again paralyzed the judicial system again nationwide.

Whereas the National JUSUN were called off after over 2 months without the courts resuming to hear many of its cases that could not be heard within the period of strike The superior courts of records again proceeded on their annual vacation.

The above challenges and it’s attendant effects still biting hard in lawyers, non superior courts in state like Ogun state are are still under lock and key by reason of it’s state wide related JUSUN strike which is still ongoing.

It is on the basis of the above that we join the league of several lawyers who are appealing to the Chairman and all

Members of the NBA AGC 2021 TCCP to consider the plights of lawyers, both young and old and give, at least, another 2 weeks further extension of the early birds registration.

This the TCCP and the leadership of NBA, ably led by Mr. Olumide Akpata, has the enabling powers to do all in the interest of the legal profession.

*TCCP kinky give at least a 2 weeks extension for the early bird registration. We so move!!!*

In a statement issued by the Chairman of NBA SPIDEL and made available to THE SQUIB, the Webinar which is scheduled to hold on the 14th of September, 2021 promises to be an explosive one. The time is 4pm.

The statement added that the following persons have confirmed their attendance," they are Retired Justice of the Supreme Court in the person of (1)  Hon Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivour, (2) His Excellency, Arakurin Rotimi Akeredolu SAN, former NBA President, (3) Mr J.B. Daudu SAN, former President of NBA, (4) Chief Lateef Fagbemi SAN and Mrs Justina Anayo Offiah SAN."

The statement informed that the "topic remains the contradictory exparte  orders in political cases which have  brought untold embarrassment to the entire legal community and by extension to the whole country. "

Excerpts of the statement stated also:

" Retired Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivour of the Supreme Court  will lead the discussion by x-raying the entire concept of the discourse. The topic which appears broad covers a number of very interesting but related matters like:

**resurgence of conflicting exparte orders,

**forum shopping especially outside jurisdiction

**the legal implications of such orders on the issue of

fundamental and constitutional right of fair hearing,

**political, systemic Implications on the polity.

**consequences for legal practitioners who file such

processes or urge for such orders/ethical issues,

**consequences for the judges who dish out such questionable orders /prescribed statutory penalties

*historical perspectives to this strange recurrence in our polity and many more.

Our main speaker will give an overview of the above topic while each Panelist who is already assigned the sub-topics will handle them from their various rich perspectives to the delight of the anticipated wide audience that will include the Legal Community(Bench and Bar, Law Teachers, Law Students), Politicians and the Media Community.

The President of the NBA in the person of Mr Olumide Akpata is the Special Guest of Honour in the program and shall be made to express his feelings from the leadership of the Bar's perspective on the ugly trend which deserves immediate reversal if the legal profession intends  to retain the confidence of the exasperated members of the public.

The Webiner shall be moderated by Professor Paul Ananaba SAN, the immediate former  Chairman of NBA-SPIDEL. "

NBA SPIDEL CHAIR, UBANI, DEMANDS RELEASE OF GLORIA OKOLIE

The Chairman, Section on Public Interest and Development Law (SPIDEL)  of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) , Dr. Monday Ubani has called for the release of Gloria OKOLIE.

Activists and lawyers have taken turns to demand the release of Gloria Okolie under #FreeGloria. Gloria Okolie , a young lady who has spent 70 days in Police custody in Abuja is believed by many lawyers and activists, who believe that she is being framed up by the Police to be a "spy"  of the Eastern Security Network and the Indigenous People of Biafra ( IPOB) to justify her prolonged and unnecessary detention.

Excerpts of Dr. Ubani's press release are as follows:

RELEASE GLORIA OKOLIE UNCODITIONALLY  OR CHARGE HER TO COURT IF SHE  HAS COMMITTED ANY CRIME.

Our  attention has been drawn to the long and  illegal detention of one Gloria Okolie  by the Nigerian Police Authorities for over 67 days for her friendship with an alleged IPOB member.

It is further alleged that while she is  under the police  detention in Owerri,  she has been used as a slave(beast of burden) and terribly abused, tortured by the officers in charge of her detention. While these allegations are yet to be verified as no lawyer or relation had had access to her, we are of the candid opinion that there are many things wrong with this detention which we consider patently illegal, wickedly and appalling.

What makes this matter more shocking is the latest press release of the current Inspector General of Police after over 67 days conceding to the  arrest and illegal long detention  on the ground that she was providing information, drugs and weapons to the said IPOB members. According to the IGP "further investigations by the police team revealed that Gloria Okolie takes advantage of her gender and seemingly innocuous looks as camouflage to carry out espionage against military and police targets on behalf of IPOB/ESN." The truth of the matter is that if the IGP thinks that this explanation will justify this long and illegal detention of this young lady, it has further exposed the incompetence and illegality with which the  security agencies carry out investigations in Nigeria .

Assuming but not conceding that these "grave allegations" are true, does this by any stretch of imagination empower any security agency any right to detain a citizen for such lenght of  time, thereby depriving her the constitutionally guaranteed  rights of freedom of movement,  rights of dignity of person and right of  fair trial within a reasonable time as provided under 1999 constitution? Nay, her guaranteed rights of presumption of innocence until proven guilty has been destroyed permanently by this lengthy detention without any charge or arraignment.

We have consistently advise our security agencies to discard this primitive and outrightly unscientific mode of investigation of crimes in this modern times  to avoid this unnecessary embarrassment they bring to themselves most times they effect arrest of suspected criminals. We have counselled that scientific and modern mode of investigation of crime is the best global standard that is applicable all over the world even in small African countries with lesser economic viability as Nigeria. Our security agencies have become a big embarrassment to us as a nation, especially when we claim to be giant of Africa.

It is absolutely wrong to arrest an individual and start sourcing for evidence for prosecution.  It is not  only achaic but patently criminal  for police officers to indulge in this manner of primitive investigation of crime in this modern time.

We are therefore giving the police authorities 14 days from today to charge Gloria Okolie to court if she has committed any known offence or release her unconditionally.  We shall commence the enforcement of her fundamental rights which has been criminally violated if this request is not adhered to as usual by the police authorities. They are deemed adequately advised.

#FreeGloriaOkolieNow.

EXPLOSIVE: "I TREATED 15 PATIENTS WITH GUNSHOT WOUNDS", DOCTOR TELLS LAGOS SARS PANEL

A medical Doctor(name withheld) has told the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Restitution for SARS-Related Victims and Other Related Matters that he treated 15 patients with gunshot wounds on the night of 20th October , 2020, the night of the Lekki Shooting.

He made this revelation under assorted cross-examination questions by Counsel to Lagos State Government and Lekki Concession Company in the Proceedings of Saturday, 14th August, 2021 , which the Panel ruled should not be televised by camera men at the Panel.

The excerpts of the Cross-examination are as follows:

CROSS-EXAMINATION OF MEDICAL DOCTOR BY COUNSEL TO #ENDSARS PROTESTERS, MR. ADESINA OGUNLANA

O(OGUNLANA): Is it true that  your Medical Centre treated some people on the 20th, 21st and 22nd October, 2021?

D(DOCTOR): Some were treated for gunshot injuries . Some were bruises . Some came in as contuitions and convulsions.

O: Did you treat Nicholas Okpe, Olalekan Faleye and Patrick Ukala?

D: The only record here is Patrick Ukpolo, treated for gunshot injury , right forearm. He was referred from Reddigton Hospital.

O: If you see the Patrick , can you be able to identify him ?

D: Yes.

O: (Calls out Patrick Ukala): Is he the one?

D: Yes, he is the one. I was one of the people who treated him.

O: That will be all for this witness.

CROSS-EXAMINATION BY COUNSEL TO NIGERIA POLICE FORCE, J. I. EBOSEREME ESQ.

E(EBOSEREME): The patients that were brought to your Hospital, did they tell you what happened?

D(DOCTOR): Yes

E: The documents you tendered are based on what you were told?

D: I was only interested in Medical information. I was not interested in any other information.

E: Did any of the patients say they were shot by the Police? Did you ask?

D:  No, that was not part of our medical history.

E: That will be all for this Witness.

CROSS-EXAMINATION BY COUNSEL TO THE PANEL, MR. JONATHAN OGUNSANYA

O(OGUNSANYA): Do you confirm that the Medical Records before you are part of documents submitted to the Panel?

D: Yes.

O: That will be all for this witness.

CROSS-EXAMINATION BY COUNSEL TO LEKKI CONCESSION COMPANY, MR. ROTIMI SERIKI

S(SERIKI): When did you become a Medical Doctor?

D: I became a Medical Doctor in 2004. I am a Fellow of West African College of Physicians. I am a specialist in Plastic Surgery. Every Surgeon is treated all wounds. I have treated gunshot wounds before 20th day of October, 2020. I can't recall how many gunshot wounds I have treated.(....)I am familiar with Lekki Toll Gate. I have never counted the traffic junctions but I am aware that there are 7 traffic junctions controlled by traffic lights.

S: Is it correct to say that gunshot wounds lead to blood loss?

D: It can also be a glazing wound. But gunshot penetration leads to blood loss. There are 15 patients with gunshot victims . None of them have glazing gunshot wounds. There is 1 patient with laceration among the 15 patients with gunshot wounds . They all have gunshot penetration.

S: Do you agree that the patients with gunshot penetration would need to be taken to the nearest hospital?

D: Yes

S: As a Medical Practitioner, you are aware that from Lekki Toll Gate, there are several hospitals within that route?

D: I am aware

S: How many of the patients were referred from Reddigton Hospital, Lekki?

D: 6 patients were referred from Reddigton Hospital, Lekki.

S: Which location of Reddigton Hospital referred them?

D: I don't know. I know Reddigton operates from different locations in Lagos. They were brought in by ambulances. I don't take note of which  location of Reddigton Hospital they were brought from. No patient was brought in unconscious. I did not extract bullets from any of them.

S: That will be all for this witness.

CROSS-EXAMINATION BY COUNSEL TO LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT, A.J. OWONIKOKO SAN

O(OWONIKOKO): You confirm that your hospital handled 6 referrals from Reddigton?

D: Yes

O: Are those Referrals contained in Exhibit A?

D: Yes

O: Is there anyone of the 6 that have instrument of referral?

D: I can't confirm any letterheads from Reddigton.

O: Your facility is a Trauma Centre?

D: Yes sir

O: Trauma injuries are not restricted to gunshots?

D: Yes sir

O: Your determination of trauma is not just based in Physical examination, there are other means of examination?

D: CT Scan, MRI

O: There is this requirement of Primary Survey...the ABCDE...Airwave Flow, Breathing, Circulation, Disability and Exposure, do you confirm?

D: Yes

O: These 6 patients for Reddigton Hospital, where was this Primary Survey conducted?

D: Both facilities are supposed to do so.

O: Can you confirm that they have primary Survey in their facilities ?

D: Yes, they do.

O: Do you confirm Secondary Survey follow Primary Survey?

D: Yes.

O: Can you explain Secondary Survey?

D: The most important thing is to ensure that the patient is breathing. We want to check secondary injuries.

O: There is Nicholas Okpe, Patrick Ukala ...

D: Patrick Ukala is correctly spelt in the Case Note...the Summary Print has an error.

O: There is Samuel Ashaola, Solomon Ago, Olalekan Faleye (from Vedic), Asue Roland...from Reddigton...

D: We don't have CT Scan, MRI  as at that time...one that I followed fully...Samuel Ashaola has X-ray of left shoulder, Asue Roland has X-ray of the Skull, Ogbonna has X-ray of the right leg and Nicholas Okpe has X-ray of the Chest. Aina Harrison has CT Scan. They are 7.

O: All these patients had their X-ray conducted outside(sic) your facility?

D: Yes

O: I will like to take you to Solomon Samuel...your case note confirms that he has a gunshot injury to the shoulder...

D: Yes. I confirm that there were no bullets extracted from the patients.

O: Can we have Solomon Agie's X-ray and Report. The purpose of the X-ray is to ascertain the nature of the objects ...

D: The first part ...yes... and the other part is cloudy. The X-ray says there is no bone fracture . There is no evidence of metallic object or sharpnel.Thee are different gunshot injuries depending on the gun and how close the gun is. Gun velocity is the speed of the bullet and there will be more damage done to the internal structures that it runs through. I don't know whether high velocity will depend on military guns. I cannot say whether Solomon Agi was shot with either high or low velocity weapons. We could not find an exit wound on Solomon Agi. There are other persons treated for gunshot injury. I wouldn't know whether they suffered high velocity or low velocity gunshot injuries. A forensic pathologist is the one that can determine that. A forensic ballistician can also help. I can't confirm that an highly experienced military officer can help..."

O: Let's look at Samuel Ashaola...the nature of injuries was laceration to the thigh. Is that injuries consistent with gunshot wounds?

D: He was brought in on 21st October, 2021 by 12: 15am. He was transferred from Reddigton Hospital. All the patients came in a conscious state. We do not have access to Case Notes. We do not have previous history of patients. The most important thing  in an emergency is to save the life of the patient. You can have spillover , it is still an emergency...

AYO ADEMILUYI, CHAIRMAN, NBA SPIDEL ENVIRONMENTAL AND SUSTAINABILITY LAW COMMITTEE ADDS ANOTHER YEAR, SET FOR GREATER HEIGHTS

It is not one's fancy to be given to customary ceremonies but the event of adding another year is always an opportunity to wish oneself well and also appreciate all and sundry.

One's emergence on terra firma and victories cannot be written without appreciating one's parents, in persons of Mr. Isola and Mrs. Eunice Ademiluyi, who took the choice to birth one into being. But much more intriguing was the steadfastness of the duo in the battles I faced in the last one decade, first against victimisation as a student activist at Obafemi Awolowo University , Ile Ife and one's successful call to the Nigerian Bar in the final analysis. I also appreciate my siblings, Bukola Alao(nee Ademiluyi), Festus, Helen and Gbenga Ademiluyi.

Life and learning goes "pari pasu". My appreciation equally goes to the long chain of teachers , both past and present, as one never stops learning . A maxim even says "from cradle to grave".

I must make a specific appreciation to my great Teacher of Environmental and Sustainability Law, Professor Margaret Okorodudu-Fubara of the Faculty of Law, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, who always provided that pillar of hope in the dark days of unwarranted victimisation that marked the twilight of one's students 'days at Great Ife.

My warm appreciation goes to the Ife Law Class of 2009, the Great Ife Legal "Legends" for being such a great generation to be a member of.

Great Ife provided the launching pad for all what one is passionate about , from activism to the environment. Great Ife! Remain, Great Ife.

The most spectacular political  event in one's past decade is the split of the forces of the Movement for A Socialist Alternative (MSA). To all my comrades in the MSA, we have not fully fathomed the depth of the great stride we made through the split in year 2020, popularly known as the " Year of  the Pandemic" but more appropriately should be tagged the "Year of Revolution and Counter-Revolution".

It is now clearer to us than almost in the last ten years that Counter-Revolution has taken a deep base in the "official" left and a crystallisation of genuine revolutionary layer has just commenced.

My Red salute to my brother in arms , Wole Olubanji Engels, Davynovich Fidel and our great leader , Daggar Tolar. Redder days lie ahead.

I equally appreciate collaborators in the left and radical movement with which one has fought battles against reaction , first within the left and the state. Red salute to the persons of Kunle Ajayi Wiseman, my brother in arms  and the entire forces of Revolution Now and Coalition for Revolution, CORE. To my brother , Wiseman, events of today have only proven our work in the past half-a-decade correct .

I must equally commend the steadfastness of my collaborator and leader in the Radical Agenda Movement in the Nigerian Bar Association ( RAMINBA), Mr. Adesina Ogunlana who accepted the historical challenge in 2019 to put up a radical presidential challenge against the Bar bigwigs. Events of the past one year has only proven us correct that NBA cannot be okay if Nigeria is not okay.

It is no surprise then that history has been kind us in the events that blew out in the lead up to the #EndSARS uprising and its aftermath. Our organic intervention and role is not by accident but confirmation of foresight above astonishment. My warm appreciation also goes to our DF, Dele Farotimi for always being there .

My salutations cannot be complete without a shout-out to my constituency, the Nigerian Bar Association. I commend our dear President, Mr. Olumide Akpata , who stood out in the galaxy of the Presidents of the Bar for a while to provide intervention on one's arrest during a Socialist Party of Nigeria rally last year. I must equally appreciate the Chairman of my Branch, Epe Branch, Mr. Ademola Koko and our glamorous Vice-Chairman, Funmi Adeogun and the entire Executive Committee Members and Members of the Branch.

I equally appreciate the outgone Chairman and present Chairman of the Section on Public Interest and Development Law, (SPIDEL) of the Nigerian Bar Association, Professor Paul Ananaba SAN and Dr. Monday Ubani. Special thanks must be given to Dr. Monday Ubani and the Governing Council of SPIDEL who gave opportunity to serve by appointing one the Chairman of the Environmental and Sustainability Law Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association, the premier Committee of SPIDEL.

To the Executive Committee Members and entire members  of the Environmental and Sustainability Law Committee of NBA SPIDEL, greater days lie ahead.

I must appreciate past and former Partners, Senior Associates,  Associates and staff of my law firm , Newworth LLP,First Suite, First Floor, Post Office Building, Marina, Lagos ,  a full-service environmental and sustainability law firm with our core practice areas ranging from Public Interest practice to Dispute Resolution, Corporate Commercial, Real Estate , Sustainability and International Legal Practice, where one acts as the Lead Partner. My special thanks to Joan Ohwaguono, Femi Fangnon, Gbemisola Osadua, Milinda Millieking Sunday, Phillip Bethel Esq, in no particular order.

I give all glory to the Maker and Giver of Life, no matter the debates. I am assured that another year only offers oppurtunity to déepen the revival and Revolutionary movement.

AUGUST 5 #REVOLUTIONNOW: SOWORE CALLS FOR SYMBOLIC ACTION, MULLS WIDER MOBILISATION

Omoyele Sowore, the Convener of #RevolutionNow Movement has called for symbolic actions today , 5th August, 2021 , the 3rd Anniversary of the 5th August, 2019 #RevolutionNow Nationwide Mass Action.

This was made known in a MEDIA ADVISORY issues by Sowore and exclusively obtained by THE SQUIB. It will be recalled that Sowore was arrested in his hotel room at Ikeja,Lagos and whisked away to Abuja by operatives of Department of State Services on August 3rd , 2019, two days to the planned nationwide mass actions. He was subjected to almost a year long detention before being released on very stringent bail conditions , which includes restriction of his movement to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

The excerpts of the Media Advisory are as follows:

"Today is August 5 2021, as expected, today marks the 2nd anniversary of the introduction of REVOLUTION into the political lexicon of Nigeria’s checkered history. It was the first time a group of courageous citizens took on the behemoth corrupt, undisciplined, incompetent, feudalistic and fascist Nigerian political system with the plan to distinctly demolish it to save Nigerians from perdition and possible extinction.  When the event of August 2019 hit in over 20 cities across Nigeria too it took many by surprise such that 5 million people searched and sought to know the meaning of REVOLUTION on google.com.

Today, many of our citizens have gained more consciousness and better political understanding of how a REVOLUTION would put an end to their misery and birth a new era where social and economic justice will be accorded a prime place in their lives.

The struggle for #RevolutionNow slated for today was dedicated to the release of unjustly detained citizens by the regime. We are happy to announce that the cowardly regime led by Muhammadu Buhari has yielded by releasing Shiites leader Ibrahim El ZakZaky, #Oduduwa12 abducted from the home of Sunday Adeyemo aka “Sunday Igboho,” #Dunamis5 arrested snd tirtured for wearing #BuhariMustGo Tshirts to Church, several #EndSarsProtesters  have all been granted reprieve while we pursue our next intensive struggle to #FreeNnamdiKanu and several other victims of impunity, we commend our commitment colleagues for a job well done!

These token victories would however not eclipse our ultimate goal to upturn the rotten system of patronage, greed, predatory conduct and authoritarianism by the Nigeria political elite led by Buhari.

However, due to the need to have a bigger and larger mass action for this year, it was decided that we would step down today’s direct action and only engage in symbolic activities. A new date will soon be announced for a global mass action against tyranny and oppression in Nigeria. There is no alternative to a People’s REVOLUTION. #Revolutionnow #Buharimustgo"

DUNAMIS 5 FREED BY DSS AT LAST, LAWYER RELATES LONG WALK TO FREEDOM

THE SQUIB reports that the courageous young people (#Dunamis5) illegally detained by  the Department of State Services were just released from detention by the Nigerian secret police, Department of State Services (DSS) after 30 days in detention because they wore #BuhariMustGo Tshirts to Dunamis Church service in Abuja on July 4 2021.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Omoyele Sowore, the leader of #RevolutionNow Movement and leading #BuhariMustGo campaigner  stated "we want to appreciate everyone who stood firmly by these young men and the #Revolutionnow movement during their unjust incarceration-torture and dehumanisation in the hands of Dr. Paul Enenche’s church security before they were handed over to the DSS."

THE SQUIB also gathered that the lawsuit in pursuit of justice for the five revolutionaries  will continue at the Federal High Court .

Sowore ,in his statement asserted that  "administrative sanctions will be pursued against the Magistrate that ignored a superior court order ordering their release as well as the three DSS lawyers who flagrantly ignored the higher court orders to arraign them before the Magistrate. Their lawyers will also pursue a contempt of court proceeding against the DG of DSS, Yusuf Bichi Mogaji in coming days."

In a related development,  lead lawyer to the Dunamis 5,  Tope Tomekun Esq in a statement made available to THE SQUIB narrated how  his legal team secured freedom for the Dunamis 5.

The excerpts of the statement is as follows:

"VICTORY AT LAST!

#DUNAMIS 5: SHORT WALK TO PRISON BUT LONG WALK TO FREEDOM!

-4th of July, 2021.

These 5 young Nigerians attended the DUNAMIS church in Abuja, to seek God's intervention, according to them, for Nigeria at this difficult time. Hardly did it occur to them that the gate to the church could also turn to the gate to prison.

-4th of July, 2921.

Arrested after church service by the invited men of the DSS at the DUNAMIS church premises, with the help of the DUNAMIS church security men, on the ground that they wore Buhari Must Go T-shirts!

-7th of July 2021!

We approached the Federal High Court Abuja to enforce their rights: right to freedom from discrimination, right to freedom of thought,  right to freedom of expression and right to personal liberty. Two motions were filed: a motion on notice  and a motion ex parte.

- 26th of July 2021.

We moved the motion ex parte, praying the court for interim order of release. The court granted the 5 applications and ordered the DSS to release the #Dunamis 5 immediately and unconditionally. The DSS refused to obey that order of My Lord, Hon. Justice Chikere of the Federal High Court 3 Abuja.

-28th of July 2021.

The DSS rushed the DUNAMIS 5 to Mpape magistrate court to be arraigned on 5-count charge, all centred on breach of public peace at DUNAMIS church. We applied for their bail and they were all granted bail by the sitting magistrate.

-2nd of August 2021.

We perfected the bail conditions and the court issued a notification of perfection of bail to the Director General of the DSS and ordering the immediate release of the DUNAMIS 5. The DSS refused to comply with this 2nd Order.

-2nd of August 2021.

We commenced contempt proceedings against the Director General of the DSS for failure to comply with the order of the Federal High Court of the 26th of July 2021, served on the DSS on the 29th of July 2021.

-3rd of August 2021.

The DSS bowed to the fireworks from the people of Nigeria and released the DUNAMIS 5.

The only antidote to tyranny is that men of courage must relentlessly and tirelessly inspire the masses to action. Tyranny has not survived the people in all histories. The people, determined, always survive tyranny.

Yes, we have fought a good battle in court. But without the men of courage like Omoyele Sowore, who, at the risk of personal peril,  has refused to be tired of giving us the inspiration and our courageous media, who won't let all these oppressions be covered in the darkness and the courageous Nigerian youths who have refused to cave in, in the face of the staccato of the government gunmen, we would not have succeeded!

The victory is therefore dedicated to the Nigerian masses!

I must drop a word for our media men.

I reckon that the present generation of Nigerian media reporters are nurtured under an oppressive regime and for this reason, they are radicalized and more daring.  We must commend those guys for always daring the DSS in court and on the street, until their camera or phone is seized or broken and until they are arrested. Our reporters deserve an award for their courage. Kudos guys!

We thank the press generally for not allowing all these oppressions to be covered in the dark.

On behalf of these courageous young men, who will now go down in history as the  DUNAMIS 5: Emmanuel Larry, Ben Mannaseh, Victor Ndoka, Henry Nwodo and Samuel Gabriel(the blind Saxophonist, who despite his blindness, was arrested for wearing a shirt, with an inscription, that he could not even read), who all just spent 30 days in the DSS prison, for wearing Buhari Must Go T-shirts, I thank Nigerians for the outcry. I thank my egbon, Omoyele Sowore!  I thank my team members, Peter Asimegbe Esq. and Allen Sowore Esq., guys welldone!

The more lawless our government becomes, the more daring we shall become. We shall not give up and nothing shall discourage us!
